Julie Byrd is our Vice President of Sales, so it’s no surprise that she’s an enthusiastic Los Cabos fan and local luxury vacation expert. Recently, she planned the perfect family vacation in Cabo San Lucas combining her fun-loving spirit with a luxurious and relaxing stay at Villa Turquesa, one of our most breathtaking vacation rentals in Cabo San Lucas.
Here, she shares some highlights:
When my stepson turned 18 and graduated from high school this year, we wanted to celebrate in a memorable way. I’m always a fan of vacationing in my favorite destination, so he brought a best friend (and fellow high school graduate) down to Los Cabos and we planned a fun-filled long weekend to mark the occasion. We were very blessed to enjoy a great mini-getaway at Villa Turquesa. We knew we wanted to get out and explore, so we arranged a convenient rental car from Avis Mexico to make it easy to get around when we were not kicking back at the villa.
Villa Turquesa is one of our most spectacular luxury villas in Pedregal, Cabo’s best private community of vacation homes. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this 9-bedroom villa offers incredible views of the ocean, beaches and hillsides – as well as breathtaking hacienda-inspired décor with captivating folk art and antiques.
We kicked off our getaway with breakfast at Villa Turquesa provided by the outstanding team of FresCo. by Eat Cabo Catering. Enjoying the services of a private chef is something I highly recommend to our villa clients, even if it’s just for one or two special meals. There’s really nothing like enjoying a gourmet dining experience with excellent food and service right in your villa with the ocean as the backdrop.
Villa Turquesa is perfectly positioned to take full advantage of the panoramic ocean views from its incredible hillside location. Those gorgeous vistas are one reason this magnificent villa is a repeat guest favorite for destination weddings and other celebrations in Cabo. With a huge infinity-edge swimming pool, swim-up bar, jacuzzi and 10,000 sq. ft. of outdoor living areas, there are plenty of spots to relax while enjoying those ocean blues.
We’re all big fans of exploring the great food that Los Cabos has to offer. With so many wonderful restaurants, it’s hard to choose but I always make it a point to stop at SUR Beach House. This spot has the winning combo of an amazing location directly overlooking Médano Beach, a stylish atmosphere, great food and a beach club in one of Cabo’s very best spots. It’s fun to sit here enjoying the beautiful ocean views, excellent cuisine and a cold drink while people watching.
We knew we wanted to get on (and in) the water with the boys in Cabo, so we booked one of my personal favorites – La Isla Tours. Offering a variety of charters, La Isla’s boats are like floating platforms of fun! We enjoyed an afternoon on Cabo San Lucas Bay, swimming, sun bathing and taking in the gorgeous views of El Arco. La Isla offers snorkel gear, stand up paddle boards and can also arrange personalized catering options.
The boys couldn’t let the boat ride pass without a jump off of Pelican Rock. Located near Land’s End, this landmark rock outcropping also happens to be a great snorkeling spot when conditions are right. All in all, it was a perfectly relaxing afternoon on the water.
While we adored our villa experience at Villa Turquesa, I wanted to show the boys another fun side of Cabo and so I arranged day passes at Breathless Cabo San Lucas. This stunning newer all-inclusive resort is situated adjacent to Cabo’s famous marina. The passes allow visitors to enjoy the views, dining and cool party vibe of this chic resort for a day. The resort offers themed pool parties, guest DJs and other special events. Day passes are available from $110/person* and include unlimited beverages, breakfast, lunch, snacks, pool waiter service, free WiFi, parking, beach access and more from 9am-5pm. *Subject to change, contact us for details.
No visit to Cabo San Lucas is complete for me without a stop at Tacos Gardenias. This small, casual taqueria on a side street in Cabo is my top place to enjoy traditional Baja fish tacos, shrimp cocktail and more – and I was thrilled to enjoy this favorite with the boys during our visit. The super fresh, inexpensive local seafood and cold beer make this one of my top recommendations in town!
We wrapped up our unforgettable weekend getaway in Los Cabos and said goodbye to marvelous Villa Turquesa feeling rejuvenated and happy from days of sunshine, great food and pampering in paradise.
