"Absolutely Idyllic!"

Having been a guest at Rancho de Costa on multiple occasions, I can attest to this resort being one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations I have ever experienced.

The setting is idyllic. The staff, headed by the amazing Mauricio and Daniel, couldn’t be more willing to please you. The food is fresh and outstanding. I especially enjoy Chef Dariel and Ramon’s hand made guacamole and salsa prior to dinner. There are fun water activities for families, a workout facility, a tennis court and the fishing is fantastic. They even have a theater to watch movies in the evening and a very good masseuse is available to soothe any sore muscles. To be able to catch dorado, wahoo, rooster fish, marlin, sailfish and many other species in water that can be as calm as a lake when there is no wind is truly a blessing. To use an old saying, “Try it, you’ll like‼️“ I have tried it and I love it!

Our group of 8 from California and Colorado really enjoyed our stay at Rancho De Costa.

The resort was outstanding with 3 very good meals per day, relaxing under the thatched palapa looking out on the Sea of Cortez, to swimming in the large pool, and retreating to our beautiful rooms for a good night's sleep. The staff were very friendly and helpful with all our needs...I especially enjoyed you getting us with the best fishing excursions....I caught 4 Dorado fish weighing about 20 pounds each, and one Rooster fish that weighed about 22 pounds...The chef prepared the Dorados for us and were delicious.. One of the most outstanding events was to see the sunrise on the Sea of Cortez about 6:30 in the morning.. All of us have agreed to return to your wonderful resort

"Paradise"

I just returned from five days of what can only be described as paradise.

I’ve never been to Rancho de Costa before so I had no idea what to expect. The facilities were awesome. It seemed all the suites had view of the bay. My suite has a private patio that faces the bay with a great view of the fabulous sunrises. I enjoyed the huge walk-in shower each morning. The exercise room (next to the tennis court) has about every kind of equipment you could need as well as a complete line of free weights. The pool is always ready for a dip. I can’t say enough about the staff. The never hovered but always seemed to be available when you needed them. The meals were incredible and well presented. If you wanted something special or different, all you had to do was ask. One of the things I enjoyed most was the privacy and quiet. At night, even with the doors and windows closed, you could hear the surf (if you didn’t have the fan running). I slept great. The only negative is that I had to leave and come home. I can’t wait until I can schedule another visit.

What an awesome place!

Rancho de Costa is the perfect spot for large groups of friends or family who want to be on the beach. Everything from the rooms to the food was top notch. The staff made us feel at home as they always do and attended to our every request. Our group of 20 has been to Rancho de Costa 5 different times now and we always leave happy and relaxed. The pool and palapa area is very large and easily accommodates large groups of people for eating or just hanging out during the day. There are plenty of options for fishing including pangas who can take 2 or 3 people out for half a day or you can charter a larger yacht out of La Paz or Cabo and take a larger group. The fishing in the area is world class and I highly recommend going if you like to fish. There is a movie theater, gym and tennis court on the property which are nice options in addition to all of the water-based activities. Rancho de Costa is a hidden gem that sits on a very remote beach. You won't find crowds at Rancho - only tranquility and good times. I highly recommend this place for your next family getaway.

"One of my favorite spots in the world!"

I have been to Rancho de Costa numerous times since my first visit in 2004.

Each time I go, I find myself enjoying it more and more. Rancho is a rare opportunity to experience Mexico for its natural beauty in a truly private setting. I love going to sleep and waking up to the sound of waves gently breaking on the beach which is literally right outside your window. The sunrise at Rancho is strikingly beautiful and motivates me to wake up early every morning I’m there…which is helpful when getting an early start to fishing. Sport fishing is the one of the main reasons Americans come down to this part of Mexico. If you were to stay in Cabo, it would take at least two hours of traveling up the coastline by boat to get to one of the best fishing spots on the Sea of Cortez. For us at Rancho, it’s a 10-minute Ponga ride before the fish start biting. I’ve had some incredible fishing experiences here that I’ve never been able to replicate anywhere else (including an epic, 150 lb marlin catch). The staff at Rancho de Costa are very friendly and take pride in hosting their guests. The Chef Dariel does an outstanding job cooking the meals and will prepare whatever fish you catch that day. I have had Marlin, Wahoo, Dorado, Pargo, Yellow Fin Tuna, and Sea Bass prepared many different ways and they all taste incredible. Ramon, Ivan and Isabel always have smiles on their faces. Ramon and Hugo do a great job as a fishing boat captains. They have been hunting the Mexican waters their whole lives and they know every inch. It’s hard not to feel like you’ve made a lifelong friend when you spend the day fishing with them. If fishing isn’t your bag, then maybe lounging around the poolside is. The Palapa at Rancho is one of the biggest I’ve ever seen and is beautifully constructed. It does an amazing job of keeping you cool even on the hottest days. It’s hard not to take a siesta on one of the lounge chairs there when a cool ocean breeze happens to wander in from the east. The golf course surrounding Rancho was designed and built by Tom

Dear friends from Rancho, I finally decided to get my passport renewed so I can return to the best place on earth, Rancho de Costa!

It’s the only place I’ve been to that I can’t exaggerate its beauty, seclusion, ambience, and quality of care from the staff! My passport can’t get here quick enough!!!

"Big Slice of Heaven"

Rancho de Costa is a Big Slice of Heaven.

Dariel and crew take great care of you -- the food was incredible (ask for shrimp and seafood one night - it is top notch), the drinks were great, and they organized everything you could possibly want and need. Our rooms were cleaned every day, and we had clean beach towels placed out every morning. They even supplied cold aloe vera for our burned kids! The villas and grounds are incredible. We had all ten rooms -- each room is large and nicely appointed with its own nice bathroom, and 8 of the 10 rooms have patios that open onto the ocean. But it's the outdoors that really make it. We spent many hours hanging out under the huge palapa and by the pool and hot tub, and many other hours hanging down by the beach. The pool and hot tub have tons of comfortable chaise lounges (many of which overlook the beautiful beach), the palapa has several tables and couches (we had 27 people, and there was plenty of room for us to all eat), and the beach has chaise lounges, umbrellas and kayaks! The beach itself is one of the best I've been to -- it's largely deserted, it's a mile-long sandy beach, and there is incredible snorkeling along the reef that hugs the shore in front of both villas (Villa Langosta and Villa Marlin). It's hard to find a place that is so relaxing and so active, all at the same time. There are so many things to do -- in five days, we walked on the beach, snorkeled in front of our house, took a trip to snorkel with whale sharks, went deep sea fishing, went fly fishing, went for beautiful coastal hikes with wonderful views, went on a whale watching trip (where we saw whales, sea lions and tons of mobula rays jumping and splashing), went kayaking, visited La Paz, and still had time to spend hours just sitting around by the pool and on the beach. Seriously, this place is one of a kind and it's legit paradise. I am already planning my next trip there.

"A perfect getaway!"

After my first visit to Rancho de Costa, I knew that I’d be back!

I recently had the chance to bring a group of couples to the resort - a perfect winter getaway! We rented the Villa Marlin. Each couple had their own luxurious suite, but we all gathered under the massive palapa for an outdoor dinner every evening. We opted to have the staff choose and prepare our meals for us - that’s definitely the way to go! The food is absolutely outstanding - think gourmet authentic Mexican and US high-end steak house/ fresh seafood. They also worked as our bartenders, making superb margaritas and other specialty drinks (all day long 😂). Even though we stayed busy exploring (beach, dunes, and desert) and fishing, and stayed up late every night, most of us made it to view the stunning sunrise over the water each morning. Coffee was always ready before we were up. There’s world class fishing available every day if desired, and the staff always had a lunch and drink cooler prepared for every fishing group. A couple of unexpected highlights: we had a pig roast on the beach one night and Johnny taught us how to make authentic salsa over an open flame! Now I’ve visited Villa Marlin on a family trip and on a romantic getaway with other couples. I can enthusiastically recommend it for both! Thank you so much to Johnny and his staff for taking such good care of us. Two of the best trips I’ve ever taken. I’ll be back!

We've visited twice, both in summer.

Both times, we've flown into Cabo San Lucas and taken a private car service (easy and cost effective) to Costa de Rancho, but La Paz would be closer, if the flights work better that way. The compound is easily one of the most beautiful places on earth. From our spacious, secluded bedroom, we had a wide vista including the mile long, private beach. We slept in a couple of days - easy to do, given the privacy of the suites, but most days I fished early (0700) with my son and local guides (arranged the night before by Rancho staff). The fishing is world class - expect to catch tuna, dorado, and snapper. Others on our trip also caught wahoo, roosterfish, and jacks. On the days we slept in, we enjoyed breakfast under the huge central palapa, lounged around the pool, snorkeled around the coral peninsula, and hunted for seashells. It's an unbelievably secluded and private location, which we found perfect for connecting with our young and teenage children. After long sundrenched days, we felt no guilt letting our kids wind down with a movie in the free-standing theater. It was the only "screen time" they had all week! I highly recommend the food, too. There are other nearby options, but we found the food at Rancho to be the best around. The staff is so friendly and happy to include guests in the preparation, if so inclined. We learned how to roast tomatoes for authentic Mexican salsa - now a weekly favorite at home! The salt water pool was great for relaxing and building family pyramids too! We could always find a quiet spot when we wanted one, yet there was always plenty to do when we felt more adventurous. Think boogie boarding, snorkeling, fishing, hiking, and even horseback riding one day. It's an exclusive property and we feel privileged to have visited twice now. We certainly plan on returning!

Wow!

Rancho de Costa is unlike anywhere we have ever visited. First-class, intimate, fun, beautiful, and comfortable - there aren't enough words to describe our experience. Johnny, Manny, and the staff treated us like royalty, catering to our every desire and whim. Appetizers, meals, and drinks were first-rate - everything was prepared to our taste. Gary, the owner, took a special interest in guiding our vacation - giving us a tour of the property and taking us out in his private fishing boat. He made us feel like family. The resort is extremely clean, safe, comfortable, accommodating, and beautiful. We cannot wait to return to this hidden paradise!

We joined our family at Rancho De Costa in BCS, Mexico for my sisters wedding.

What an amazingly beautiful property with unlimited opportunity to make for a perfect vacation. The rooms themselves are greatly cared for with wonderful decor and very comfortable beds. The tile and rock work in the showers and bathrooms is impressive and elegant. The pool area has plenty of comfortable seating and is perfect for lounging in the sun, or retreating under a large palapa for some cool shade. The pool itself is good sized and perfect temperature for a mid-day cool off. There is also a great hot tub for evening relaxation. A simple wald down a flight of stairs puts you on the most wonderful beach I have ever visited. Beautiful white sand sits in front of calm turquoise waters. There is a rocky point that buts right up against beach which offers phenomenal snorkeling. The waters are teaming with bright tropical fish and vibrant corals making for some truly enjoyable time in the water. We also took the opportunity to do a couple of days of fishing. What an incredible experience. We caught Marlin, Tuna, Dorado, Roosterfish, and Cabrilla. The captains are clearly experienced and practice ethical release of marlin and fish not of size. The tasty fish that we did catch were harvested and then exquisitely prepared by the wonderful staff at Rancho de Costa. Everybody from the maintenance crew to the chefs, and the maids were friendly and delightful to be around. Every detail was covered, and if we had a special request they were more than happy to be accommodating. I could go on and on about how great of a time we had, but this review is already running long. Highly recommended. I will be back.

The panoramic views of the Bay of Dreams at sunrise are spectacular.

In the evenings the moon would rise out of the bay like none I've seen. I was lucky to be there at a full moon. The amenities are endless and they are all yours . This is a first class destination for a private , quiet vacation. The staff was courteous and attentive to all of our needs. We were a party of five couples that enjoyed the fishing for many species not far off the shore and straight to the kitchen; bonfires on the beach; private movies in the full size theater; very nice suites located within earshot of the rolling surf that could be heard all night! I'll never forget this place. I hope I'm lucky enough to return.

"Fantastic secluded beach estate, great for large groups"

tripadvisor review

We recently returned from a stay at Rancho de Costa over the Christmas/New Year holiday break.

It was a family reunion, so it was a large group of 20 people with several different family units. It was hard to find a place that could accommodate a large group like us with different needs, but this place was perfect. We had a large age range, from 5 to 85 years old. Everyone had a great time. Rachno is actually two different houses/areas: Villa Marlin is the main area of several connected units with a total of 6 bedrooms. It also comes with a private pool/hottub and a great outdoor seating area to hang out and eat all your meals. About 100 yards away is Villa Langosta, a 4 bedroom house with private outdoor hottub. So, it's a total of 10 bedrooms with both properties. Most of the rooms have king or queen beds, but two of the rooms at Villa Langosta have several twin and full beds, perfect for the kids. Both houses have full kitchens. Both properties are beach front and have lots of activity options. Literally just steps from a great calm beach, perfect for little ones. There is also a fantastic reef right there where you can snorkel. Very calm and safe. The place has paddle boards and kayaks to rent, as well as snorkeling gear if you don't have your own. The staff also arrange fishing (either small panga boats or larger sport fishing boats) that pick you up right on the beach. Nearby La Ventana is an area known for wind surfing and kite boarding and you can arrange rentals and lessons. There are horse stables nearby and our kids went horseback riding on the beach. There is a large gym and tennis court on the property, and the staff set up beach volleyball for us. We also borrowed a soccer ball and played a little match on the beach with the kids. This place is secluded, which means it's also a little isolated. It's on Bahia de los Muertos (trying to re-brand as Bahia de los Suenos, for obvious reasons). It's about a 45 minute drive from La Paz and 2+ hours from San Jose del Cabo airport. Fly into La Paz if you can, but Cabo airport was

Thank you for the great feedback! This is a fantastic large oceanfront villa (sleeps up to 28 in 10 bedrooms) with plenty of space to lounge and enjoy all that Cabo has to offer! The villa complex is beautiful--better than any words or pictures can say or show.

The villa rooms are spacious, beautifully furnished, and still homey enough to actually enjoy kicking your feet up. Fernando (Our Cook) makes the best food you'll ever eat. Let him go shopping in La Paz and surprise you with incredible dishes. The extra cost of him shopping and cooking is worth every cent, because you'll want to enjoy everything the place offers. Beach, hiking, kyaking, snorkling, gym, tennis, basketball, golf (OUTSTANDING 18-hole course, but a bit pricey at $125), and just relaxing. This is a fairly remote getaway, but there is plenty of staff that I didn't know were included (except for tips). So your beds are made and the grounds are perfectly maintained. There are two nice restaurants--one upscale, and one casual. Los Planos is a five minute drive away to get more beer and Tequila. I've traveled the world a lot, and this places ranks very near the top, and is definitely at the top of my beach list. I will be back. John R Jones (My real name)
