What does it look like when three generations come together to celebrate 50 years of love in one of Cabo’s most stunning private villas? For Noreen and her family, it meant a week filled with unforgettable moments—sunrise coffees overlooking the sea, thoughtfully planned adventures, surprise experiences for the grandchildren, and the simple joy of being together under one luxurious roof at Villa Chavez. Noreen enjoyed the expert support of Julie Byrd, a WOW List Trusted Travel Expert, and our team to design a perfect experience. Here, she shares some highlights of her special milestone anniversary trip in Cabo:
"The trip was special from the start as we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary with the entire family: 4 children, their spouses, and our nine grandchildren. We were SO pampered from day one! Villa Chavez was just beautiful, filled with marble, incredible views, luxurious beds and linens, etc. The entire week was well planned and organized, including transportation. We had not one worry!
A private villa was our choice so the entire family would be together (as opposed to hotel rooms) and for the ease of meals when we did not want to go out... especially knowing caterers could be arranged! Up in the morning, and the coffee and tea were ready in the kitchen! Yay!
We had many calls and team meetings with Julie and Alex of Cabo Villas in our months of planning. We also had the opportunity to discuss a meal with the head of catering. We revised many drafts of our itinerary, and each time it got better and better with Julie and Alex's guidance. We also did lots of homework on our own, we knew how we wanted the week to unfold!
However, finding the villa was just the beginning of the phenomenal trip Julie and Alex created for us. Just a few highlights: Swimming with dolphins; a full day cruise of the bay with snorkeling, sightseeing, lunch and drinks; a day trip to Tierra Sagrada with beach time, camel riding, cooking class, and tequila tasting; a deep sea fishing day for the guys (grandsons caught a 130-pound marlin that was bigger than both of them!); and a fabulous spa day for the gals.
Tierra Sagrada Beach Club & Adventure Park was one of the highlights. Our drive there was about 45 minutes, and beautiful. Lucky us! Many whale sightings along the way! Our driver was a historian, and we learned a lot about the area, the economy, and the people. Very interesting! The setting was beautiful... the staff was very attentive, brunch was delicious (all-you-can-eat!), and our cooking class was a lesson on fresh salsa (with tasting!). The adults had an informative tequila tasting. Important to note: Those 4 hours fly by...
Every inch of Villa Chavez was a marvel. And every inch became a special place, but, of note, the infinity pool was just spectacular and a favorite spot for all of us to be together. The pool was adjacent to the terrace that was accessed by huge sliding doors of the great room. Whether we sat and ate at the table, sat and chatted at the fire pit, or watched the kids be very competitive at the ping pong table. The outdoor terrace was incredible. I won't even begin to try to explain the view. Just know that it never quits, whether morning, noon, or night, and the fireworks on New Year's Eve were panoramic and spectacular.
With its commanding view of the bay, harbor, and Baja rock formations, and its eight en-suite bedrooms, movie theater, game rooms, and huge infinity pool, the villa was the perfect spot for all 19 of us.
The staff and service that we received were very special and made our stay comfortable and pampered. In the bathrooms (guest bath off the kitchen and baths to bedrooms), there were towels that were folded as two swans entwined with one another, with little candies tucked into their folds. The pool towels were always cleaned and folded on each chaise each morning, awaiting our use.
One afternoon, we enjoyed a surprise WOW Moment. Talented artists arrived with all the supplies and creative guidance for the grandchildren to craft their own decorated piñatas, headbands, sombreros, and more."
